Vocabulary
- Ensemble- all parts of something being composed or compiled together to be a whole. Ensemble is a very popular type of theater used in Chicago to add diversity.
- Compare and Despair- Comparing yourself to someone or something else. Compare and despair is a simple phrase that wants you to put yourself in somebody else's shoes and can be used in theater exercises.
- “Chicago style” theater- ensemble-driven or based theater; theater that was visceral, physically intense, an uncompromisingly realistic.
- Libretto- the term that describes the book or script of a musical or opera.
- ensemble theater- occurs when, rather than auditioning freelancers on a project-by-project basis, a group of theater artists work together over many years to create theater. These artists can include performers, artistic directors, stage management and key administrative staff.
- Gonzo Theater- a type of theater whose actors have a furious, bizarre, or exaggerated style
- Meticulous- showing great attention to detail; very careful and precise
- Visceral- comes from your gut feeling
- Mezzanine- the lowest balcony or forward part of such a balcony in a theater.
- Baroque-Style- artistic style used in drama, music, and dance that obtains a heavy act of motion and easy to identify.
- Troupe- A group of preforms in a performance such as actors, dancers, or singers join to work together.
